MPO connectors terminate many fibers — 8 or 12 in the cords documented here — behind a single push-on shell, which is how parallel-optics links (one transceiver, many lanes) and high-density trunks are physically built. GRT’s patch cord range includes 40G multimode MPO-MPO cords in both 12-core and 8-core female versions, alongside the MTP/MPO sub-family in the wider jumper catalogue.
MPO rewards planning and punishes improvisation. Polarity method (A, B or C), gender (pinned or unpinned — the documented cords are female/unpinned), and the trunk-versus-breakout role of each cord must be decided in the design, because an MPO plant cannot be casually re-patched the way duplex LC can. Our team will review your polarity plan with the order; it is far cheaper than re-terminating a hall.
Before you order MPO
- Polarity method chosen and documented for the whole plant
- Gender plan: which ends are pinned, which are female
- Role per cord: trunk, breakout, or equipment cord
- Inspection and cleaning kit for MPO end-faces on site
8-core or 12-core?
It follows the optic: 40G parallel multimode typically uses 8 of 12 positions or an 8-core cord. Both are documented in the range; match the cord to the transceiver and panel design.
MPO or MTP?
MTP is a branded, enhanced variant of the MPO interface and the two intermate. The catalogue lists an MTP/MPO sub-family; tell us which your panels use.
